Welcome to A Tale Of Many!
I am Mélinda, a French Black woman based in London.
I wanted to do this blog for a while and finally left whatever excuses I had behind.

Back in 2013, I lived in Washington DC for two years and that experience literally changed me. I got to reflect on my past and life in France, explore in depth the Black history, met a lot of different people and travelled all over the country. I have experienced for the first time what it is to live in a predominately Black city, having Black teachers and Black colleagues. In short, seeing yourself represented in various spaces. And I know that Black representation in America is far from being enough but as a Black french woman, it was huge. American pop culture was a big part of the way I grew up, but to be able to experience it first hand was even better.

So when I came back to France in 2015, it was very hard and I had a lot of things to say. So I started writing a lot and had this idea for a blog that will talk about deeper issues but also bring us closer as Black women.

In 2016, I moved to London so the idea got postponed. But again I got to discover UK Black history and culture. And once again, I saw how it was more advanced compare to France, but it still was far from being enough.

So now, after living in three different countries and realising how unfortunately none of them value us or represent us; I decided to finally take action and share my stories and the one of the wonderful Black women I got to meet along the way.

I hope you will enjoy them and feel that your voice has finally been heard!
